BIRD'S FROM OUR BALCONY

American Robin

The cheerful song of the robin is familiar to almost everyone. It is the melody we remember from childhood, the bird song that drifted in through open windows and greeted us at dawn. The male's song is described as a series of wavering, musical whistles delivered in a lively series: "Cheerily, cheeriup, cheerio, cheerily," the robin seems to say, before pausing and singing again. The robin's most common call is a rapid outburst of notes sounding like the whinny of a tiny horse.
